Club championships
To be eligible to compete in club championship the swimmer must:
- Be a financial member of Ormiston College Swimming Club
- From their time of joining the club, compete in half the number of swims in a stroke (rounded up if the number of swims is an odd number) up to and including the last scheduled point scoring club night (please refer to the season program) to be eligible for entry in that stroke at Club Championships. Exemptions from this requirement will only be considered if a medical certificate is shown to the Executive Committee indicating reasons why this condition could not be met. In the event of a compulsory school commitment, documentation from the school must be provided for exemption.
- Any Swimmer belonging to two or more clubs, and has elected to represent another club at carnivals and club championships will only be eligible to swim on club nights. The Swimmer will NOT be eligible to compete in any carnival representing Ormiston College Amateur Swimming Club. These swimmers will NOT be eligible to swim at Ormiston College Amateur Swimming Club Championships and will also NOT be eligible for any major trophies awarded at our presentation day. These swimmers will be eligible for a points trophy.
- Upon registering with the Ormiston College Amateur Swimming Club a swimmer/swimmers must declare on the day of registration which club he/she will swim club championships with if registered with more than one club. This must be detailed and signed at the time of registration by the Club Registrar and the Club President.
- Any multi-disability swimmer must advise the Club President or Registrar whether they intend to compete as a multi-disability or as an able bodied swimmer at Club Championships prior to the commencement of the season.
Club Championships will be held at the end of the season with each age group being able to compete in sprint and distance events. Championship events will be swum in all ages from 5 to 18 years.
Championships are run in heats from which the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will be based on the fastest times. In the event of more than one heat, places will be determined by judges backed up by official times.
Club Championships will be held on date(s) as decided by the committee and as per the season program.
Age at Club Championship is calculated as “AGE ON BLOCKS” on the first day/night of Club Championships. If the age of a swimmer changes between Club Championship events then age is determined as at the first Championship event.
- Swimmers aged 8 years and under will swim 25 metres for sprint events.
- Swimmers aged 9 years and over will swim 50 metres for sprint events.
- Swimmers10 years and under will swim 100m distance freestyle and IM.
- Swimmers 11 years and over will swim 200m distance freestyle and IM.
Age Champion will be determined by allocating points in Club Championship finals on the following basis.

The above will not apply to multi-disability swimmers as these swimmers will have their own category.
Championship Records
Club records will be kept in all ages, distances and strokes. Championship records can only be established and broken at club championship swims.
