Promotion times

To graduate to a longer distance the following times must be recorded for the shorter distance at a club night swim on two occasions. Promotion will be automatic, and swimmers will be notified when they register on swim night.

Sprint Event Promotion Times:

25M → 50M
Freestyle 24 seconds
Backstroke 30 seconds
Breaststroke 31 seconds
Butterfly 28 seconds

Distance Event Promotion Times:

STROKE 100M → 200M
Distance Freestyle 1 minute 40 seconds
Individual Medley 1 minute 55 seconds

After graduating to their new distance, swimmers will not receive points if they return to the shorter distance.

New swimmers joining the club this season may progress straight to the 50 metre distance for sprint events if they can provide either:

  1. Documented evidence of 50 metres qualifying times, ratified by a member of the executive committee member of the swimmer’s outgoing club.
  2. Evidence of a time for a stroke that was swum under the supervision of the current club Advisory to Swim. This time must be the split time from 3 separate stopwatches where the timekeepers were nominated by the current club Advisory to Swim.

If a swimmer then subsequently fails to meet qualifying times, they will return to the 25 metre distance. Swimmers who do not meet these criteria will commence the season at the 25 metre distance.

Swimmers may swim in only one division in each event on any one club night.

Please note that the detail in this section does not apply to multi-disability swimmers. Multi-disability swimmers are required to contact the Executive Committee for any additional details.
